Thank you for the chapters! I really love the feel of this series, and your translations keep the tangled conflicts and emotions clear. It's all very refreshing. tysm

A, um, pretty comprehensive look at the current plots given we'll be pausing at this chapter for weeks...
I don't feel that Lin Lingyao is permanently dead, because she's amidst too many changes and this isn't a series axe point. The cost to resurrect a "party member" is probably twisted to be high. Hopefully not Blood Spirit Flower high, probably is tho... that's fine but so plot-backtracking convenient.
At worst, Lin Lingyao could be dead for years before rising. But she's at least still in the cast. Lingyao's mortal or godly aspects are probably going to come out of this worse for wear though... putting backlash on Qianqiu... because as relieving as it is to see Jiu Qianqiu relatively at peace and unmasked, a core of her villainess role is carrying burdens. I just hope Lingyao isn't totally reset to a girl beholden to canon route, or crushed by taking on so much godliness she's diluted. I expect some of both though. This feels like the coming of age, end of childhood, irrevocable trauma threshold for her.
Also I don't trust Qi Liu. Maybe this is obvious? His caution and self-preservation instinct is liable to make him collaborate with any System-level entity. Qi Liu could want to cause Qianqiu to burn up a limited item to bring Lingyao back, the ambush timing is suspiciously close to attaining a Blood Spirit Flower, but I don't think things are that simple from Liu's POV.
While I can trust Qi Liu is wary of players / Yue Kongming-kind, and he doesn't see them as separable from the agendas of Video Game Plotline, he's definitely not aiming for the same truth as Jiu Qianqiu. Telling her to kill the system-exploit jellyfish that corresponds to Qianqiu's powers is as good as tricking her into no longer challenging the simulation.
If current Kongming thought the jellyfish sounded beautiful, even with an aesthetic of corruption, akin to Qianqiu in a sense, I'm betting jelly is not a foe. I think it's pretty too. Even if it is a tumorous form in comparison to the canon system. And jelly vanished while Qianqiu is getting a system update? That cinched it. Which cinched Qi Liu being devious.
Thus the undocumented shadow jelly boss is consistent with purging an unwanted exploit or externality of the canon System. It's better for whatever controllers that the jelly is hard to get details on, and is wiped out. ...Though I guess that part may be heavily foreshadowed, and less guesswork than most of this post.
Back to angst for Qianqiu I guess. "Temporary murder" would still paint her as a villain.
