I still think the most hilarious part about the game mechanics of their world is that a corrupt game state causes an autosave. Now that's the hallmark of an evil game designer!
I mean, in irl game design, this isn't exactly a bad idea, since even if it is corrupted, it might still be at a salvageable state (eg, corrupted textures and stuff that don't impact player data). Saving immediately upon detecting corruption could therefore prevent the user keeping on playing with an ever-increasingly more corrupted save (until it may eventually crash and leave them with hours of undone progress), instead giving them a stopping point to maybe repair the game before continuing.
However, if the game only has a
single save slot, which this autosave is overwriting, then this is pure evil.
