Could be time constraints, but the gore isn't really necessary here. Reader's won't get attached to background characters so you save the guts and blood splatter for characters with roles to play. Otherwise, readers get used to it and it loses it shock value.

this is such a generic ass development for this author. In the assassin bug garbo series its a villainous group creating rape zombies to start a new world (because... uhhh.. reasons? I guess?) here its dino uprising to start a new world. I'm almost kind of mad at how little this shit fazes me honestly, like ive long since given up the notion of thinking this series is any good. Its just that I invested too much of my time to simply drop it so I read it to vindicate my spite for it in a self destructive cycle.

If theres any constant throughout the mangaka's work, its a seriously, wildly unnecessary use of rape as a plot device, pretty low quality explanations on animals/insects, and twists that make no sense

(Possibly) RIP commentator cat girl. Her only job was to say what was on the screen to rile up the crowd, but she got berated when the monitor cut off, was told to take off her top (I wish she did, double RIP), and now she becomes dino chow. She was a very important character.

It's off-camera and some impossible shit also happen with Nomoto back then, so dead character can't stay dead in this series until it said so..

So I know I'm super late to this but I just thought I would say there's actually a fair chance she comes back, not guaranteed but there's some evidence. Her name is actually significant, begin Murata Deshi (Same Surname as the Author cause she was named and designed after his own cat) The choice to cutaway itself was actually the only way he could avoid actually killing her without undercutting the chapter (It's possible that he did still but there's a ton of reason to think otherwise, especially with developments in the manga itself and the way both the author and the promo account has behaved.) She was the most exposed person in the arena so she had to be attacked, full stop. If she escaped or was seen being saved it could have undercut the chapter or spoiled something. If he wanted her dead he could have easily shown her explicitly killed. Literally the only option to not kill her was to cut away. Also the Bakun SFX used with the mic panel does mean Chomp but it's not one that explicitly connects, you can actually see examples of its use elsewhere in the manga. There's some hinting of at least one more classic Killing Bites style match before things wrap up and that might be a relevant time for her to pop back up. Just don't expect him to explain it, he's not one that does that unless he explicitly has to. Also, I am actually hoping it wraps up with a full tournament cause I would like to see other rivalries resolved other than the main one hinted at.

If it makes you feel better there's actually more reasons to believe she'll pop back up and that she didn't actually get killed. One if she was killed here it breaks most of Murata Shinya's writing patterns for Killing Bites. The biggest one is he doesn't really ever do off panel deaths for named characters. Given she's named Murata Deshi (Note the surname) she's definitely named.
