i thought you guys said tarou should work on medical field so he could postpone a failed surgery or something, it sure is different when itsuki is the one doing it huh? LOL

jokes aside, this really feel OOC for itsuki. as someone who believes in fate why would he consider "small chance of success"? even if he doesn't change the big picture (the lady still die at the same time) at least she probably enjoying her last day and avoid from throwing her family into debt

It's because ultimately, he doesn't actually know for 100% sure that they're always true. In the story, he's only seen one. Even if we assume there were more videos he saw off screen to confirm it, he still can't ever be confident in a power that was given to him couldn't also have malfunctioned or have been taken away from him as well.

Though, admittedly, I don't think, even as smart as he was, a kid could come up with this degree of consideration. Likely he just felt guilty and then it got worse as he grew older and smarter.

Greeks: You can't change your fate; working against your fate makes your life worse
Daoists: What happens is what is meant to happen, the world acts as it naturally is and there's no use trying to change it
Nietzsche: You should love your fate as it is a fundamental aspect of who you are, and so you should face it grinning
Absurdists: The world is so incomprehensible and illogical that you can never know if you are bound by fate or not, but you must accept it as it comes

Oh. His origin story is not nearly as interesting or convoluted as I was hoping. Also he seriously got the short end of the stick in powers. Everyone knows specifically trying to prevent a vision or prophecy only results in it happening. At least our MC can prolong the inevitable (and that’s just life; everyone dies at some point anyway. Being able to push it back a little is all anyone can hope for). In comparison after the transfer student sees a vision it’s “damned if you do; damned if you don’t”
