The Baseball Guy is more or less right even it is for potentially selfish reasons. Out of both spite and retaliation Kanae gang raped her bully, while also completely ignoring the feelings of the guy that was clearly in love with her first (he's scum too but I must digress), then said guy tracks down Hiroshi and fractures his shoulder with a wrench once he figures out Kanae doesn't love him. If it wasn't for the bald guy Hiroshi wouldn't even have a recoverable arm or would be DEAD right now! While Kanae is the reason Hiroshi's arm got fucked up in first place! On top of all that even after gang raping Ichika. Kanae takes all of her friends, fully commits to Ichika's crush, socially outcasts her, AND doesn't give Ichika a chance to redeem herself. That poor girl's life is OVER before she could even make it out of high school. Who knows wtf else Kanae is doing to the rest of the cast.

her being the mc doesn't mean that we're all rooting for her, i mean some of us might be but we do know she gets stabbed in chapter one and this whole thing is a flash back so she's gonna get karma at one point lol

although i would hope the baseball guy knows how to be a friend outside of it, i don't think they've ever 'hung out' on their day off without it being about baseball related except maybe the time his grandma(?) gave him food or so

Given that this manga is supposed to be "semi-autobiographical", what that guy said is basically the author's criticism of herself. He seems to be a representation of her most intense self-critical thoughts, with a mixture of legitimate criticism and unfiltered hate.

That might explain my sense of presumptuousness from Ochi-- I don't think he's been established to know her well enough to be making this level of analysis, and the analysis itself is more so a longform insult than criticism (destructive or constructive).

That said, as stated, Ochi really doesn't know Kanae like that, and I'm almost certain that there's no reason for him to know everything that you've mentioned. It's not just that he's right for the wrong reasons-- he's correct, but nearly by accident/projection/authorial fiat.

this bitch is manipulative as fuck, she saw her crybaby mentality wasn't working on him so decided to switch up to something different and actually tried to escalate the situation when he was walking away.

He was basically telling her to change her mentality for the better if she wanted to be with his friend, then said he wouldn't forgive her if she continued staying with his friend with that kind of shallow thinking. He was going to leave before she switched gears.
