Depicting a poly relationship in fiction is always going to be complicated. Balancing screen-time and emotions etc. without trivializing anything is difficult. I'm not sure this read is correct though, Karasuma has been depicted from the beginning as having very pure emotions. They don't overflow in the way that Fushimi and Sensei's do. From the beginning, his way of expressing his love was always his art, so in these very physically intimate scenes he reads a little awkward, that's definitely true. I don't think that means he doesn't want to be there though - lots of people struggle with physical intimacy, but that doesn't mean them or their partners are necessarily unhappy in relationships.

Taking care is a form to express (romantic) love.
Also, he is Japanese. The other two are out of the curve of the Japanese culture and behaviour

kinda losing hope for this story. Fushimi still has no reason to be as close as she is to them.

Plus It really rubs the wrong way how fushimi kinda just doesn’t have any boundaries or consideration for anyone else…

Like she has forced herself on everyone without asking ever. Joined this poly relationship because she loved shouiji even though shouiji loved Karasuma. Brutally rejects karasuma then uses him to get close to shouiji without considering his feelings until AFTER she gets in the relationship.

Sure she ‘pays attention’ to the standard ‘oh shouiji is jealous again and stuff’ but that she does either bare minimum or uses it as an excuse to force her feelings onto shouiji (she has never asked once about her feelings or if she is ok with it.)

Note: relationship is not an excuse for this… they barely spoke until the poly relationship and every interaction fushimi has ignored shouiji and her feelings.

Every relationship has some sort of invisible boundaries yet fushimi still crosses them all

Sure they try to give her more love because she’s feeling left out but besides they’ve never communicated at ALL.

And sure you can say this indicates a shift in their poly relationship where they learn to communicate better but…

We had this same arc even before the relationship…so the repetition (with the same character might I add)

just shows how horrible there communication really is…

Plus they never address any concerns besides jealousy that other relationships have like…

The fact that fushimi is hugging and kissing shouiji without having actually spoken to her before the relationship or confirming she’s gay.

Maybe IRL poly could work, but it would be a police case if this sort of communication was used.
