I rather liked this chapter for its crystallization of Yutaka's character. He had the perfect excuse to not have to bother with any of this anymore--not only is his life shortened every moment he spends with Aru, but Aru herself was happy to let him go, for the sake of not hurting him any more than she apparently has. And yet he still chose her. Sure, yes, "everyone would die if I didn't", but it's been established that everyone will, regardless of his choice in that moment. Meaning that "two to three years" spent living with Aru were better in his mind.
Just nice to see that his feelings toward her are growing. I hope it's not going to be a case of "oh well the foreign bodies within me are what's attracted, it's not me", though I could see that being a line down the road. But things are building between them, and that's what I choose to focus on.
Interesting bit from the Leader of the System, though. Aru is still being treated as an apocalypse first and foremost, which is entirely reasonable, and hoping she ends her own life and that not also spelling doom for humanity is a perfectly sound line of thought to have. But it adds some nice texture to the personality and perspective of the various characters, who are walking this line of very real danger. It'd be easy to just make them villains or to make them swoon over and strive to protect Aru (and Yutaka), but this sort of detached, wary nurturing of the two is a neat middle road.

It'll be fun to see whether any sort of breakthrough is made that saves the world and Aru & Yutaka. Though I do think this will have a "tragedy" tag at some point, and will be a fantastic story for it.

Thanks for the TL.

Thx for the tl

honestly im down for this plot thread, that she'll still detroy the world once Mc dies, its super fucked up considered how much they're working to keep her from destroying the world as well as trying to give her a "normal" life, but honestly its a motif I can understand. For some people, that one person is their world and no one else matters, she'll make more bonds thats for sure, but their relationship is more important than the world.

I could see a situation where healing from getting severely hurt cuts down Yutaka's lifespan. Gets shot again? Now he's lost 4 months.

Hmm... this is kind of a crazy thought, but if MC dies, then everyone has to die too, and Aru will die after that. So does that mean Earth’s lifespan will end up being the same as MC’s, only around 2 or 3 years left? or maybe Aru won’t destroy the world and will just return to her own dimension with MC’s body after he dies? or maybe Aru will make the MC immortal? :thonk:

Probably dying before you can marry your eldritch girlfriend is a terrible fate rip

Also, I am wondering if Aru could transform Yutaka into something like her now?sure, she did say it would kill a person if she tried in chapter 4 but I’m assuming that would refer to the average person who isn’t exposed to her(and her various forms) to the extent Yutaka is?maybe maybe not

Am curious to see if Sato and professor will try to keep them apart will or just take the L and accept that he’s not leaving

although if we’re being real best ending is them abandoning humanity and living in a cave together

Saw this coming from the last chapter so there is that... Really, the author wrote themself into a corner with no sensible way out.
.
Now what happens next will likely play out like a standard trope... take your guesses.
  • A 4D chess element (banished into the void/sealed in another dimension ala magic or black hole/wormhole), thanks to the ignorant miko girl for that possibility.
  • Universe gets wiped and reborn with elements and/or memories of the MCs ("muh eternal love shall be reborn" type).
  • MC gets put on cryo sleep/stasis to "never die" thus the girl has to wait an eternity (if she doesn't go berserk over his stasis imprisonment.
- A 1 way trip to the sun with MC and the girl and hoping the star will burn them out(?). Burial in space is plausible, but no idea how powerful/strong the girl is.
- The "baby" route is possible, but unlikely as she said she would destroy everything. Unless MC is reborn as the baby :fml:.
