I would agree with you. But happy sugar life had Shoko. And most everyone else was a mess or evil. I fucking hate Satou. But I pity & love Asahi, Yuna, and even Mitsuboshi.
Shoko? You mean the traitor friend? Nah. The first thing she did when she exposed Sato was to send the evidence picture on her phone.
So at the scene where she begged shoko to trust her, she already betrayed her. Sato knew she can't trust Shoko, and she was right. That's why she got killed.

Was she a good law abiding citizen? Yes sure, however I don't think she was really a decent person. You hated Sato? I hated nearly every character in sugar happy life. It was satisfying seeing them die. However if I took that series seriously I would have never been able to finish it.

Yeah, I'm sure the snake eyes weren't a giveaway at all :haa:

Still, this does explain Yotsuha's resilience, acting abilities, quick thinking, and good planning.

So, Shoko should have ignored that Asahi was pushing himself desperately to find his sister? That Satou lied about having a boyfriend but in reality kidnapped (does not matter if Yuna left Shio behind in a desperate attempt to protect from Yuna turning into a monster like the bastard that raped and abused her. Satou was nowhere near Shio’s guardian, and she kept her locked up in an apartment. That’s kidnapping.) Asahi has every right to know where his sister is and that she is at least in a stable state.

Shouko was a decent person because she helped a homeless person as much as she could, when many others in the series would have turned a blind eye.

Satou was a selfish is obsessive witch. I’m not siding with the pedo Yandere. Hardly a thing she did was justified.

She may of been a bit naive. But she still wanted to help people, as opposed to Satou who only cared about herself, Shio and protecting their ‘love’ and life together. Not caring about how it would affect Shio’s mentality and health.

There is obviously a difference between reality and media, but if you ask if she should have ignored it in this moment, then yes obviously, she should have.
You should never play hero in this situations because it gets yourself killed and call law enforcement instead. Shoko had her priorities wrong. Don't forget taking the picture was, what got herself killed in the first place. However we aren't even arguing about that right?

At the moment where she was trying to convince Sato to trust her, she was only lying to save herself - not the kidnapped girl, not the brother, not Sato, but herself. Which makes the whole scenes about her inner conflict of trying to be a better friend and continue to approach Sato, feel fake.

If the author had written her differently, then my suspension of disbelief wouldn't have been stressed to the breaking point at that moment. But he wanted to have a saint in his manga who was also a hero, and additionally "died a heros death". Sorry but that's to much and turned her character into a caricature. I'm glad she died.

Ah, finally we can discuss the chapter.
We still know nothing of the misterious older brother, the stepfather killed himself I guess?
The mother...oh boy, is hard to criticize her, I think the author overreached with this one, she is cartoonishly evil, it feels too out there, I think he could have delivered the same result with a bit more tact, you can have the mother who pins all her hope on her child becoming a superstar, I have seen it too, but to the point that they threaten to cut them up with a smile....eh........could/should have been delivered better.

Maybe is because the author doesn't want to dedicate too many chapters on this flashback and so is doing the mom a quick and dirty job?
I agree but you also need to remember 2 things
1. People like the mother do exist IRL, they might not do the same stuff but they just as psychotic, we cringe when we see people like that in media because they're rare but both Joseph Fritzl and Jeffrey Dahmer existed IRL
2. The clover guy may be behind it, remember we don't know anything about him/her but my theory has been they were going after Yotsuha from the beginning and Uichi was just a way to go for that end for a while now
>tiger mom

typical.
Seems like momma is just an evolved version of the Asian Mother.
