Agreed, the guy clearly didn't learn anything and just blamed everyone but himself for his predicament. I would have socked the guy for the thing he did to me. Some people need severe discipline or serious fafo to realise they fucked up and what ever happened is their fault.
As much as my pacifist heart rebels against it, there is a grain of truth behind "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth". Some people never learned as kids (from other kids doing the same to them in return) to not pull someone else's hair because it frickin' hurts. Experiencing the same pain has a fair amount of power to jump-start empathy.
(The biggest problem with using it on adults or close to it, is that we've learned the 'skill' of rationalizing that "When someone does it to Me/Us it's wrong and they're Evil, but when I/We do it there's a Good Reason". The way Red/Blue act is a perfect case-in-point. Eye for an eye applied to adults, is more to teach other people what not to do by example.)
