I'm one of the earliest folks commenting and expounding on it. Possibly the earliest? I don't know, and it's never mattered enough for me to dig in to find out.

But even if I'm the earliest, it'd be weird to call it "my" theory. No matter who was "First post!", I'm sure the notion was nurtured if not seeded by observations others made.

I don't disbelieve that you've commented on it previously. I just think taking ownership of it is an odd choice of words.

Fair enough, and my bad for reading too much into a single word choice.

But it's worth note that, although people have been speculating that her brother (Mitsuha‡) is Clover almost since he first appeared… for quite a long time, people have also been talking about the method and reasoning behind his potential actions. (Myself included.)
‡ - Georgesmorge's post about "Tooya" (I still dunno who that is) got me curious about her brother's name, so I hunted it down. It's in the section where he becomes her guardian.

A much-abbreviated version of my own old takes: "He's been trying to 'protect' Yotsuha, first from Mommy Dearest (rightly) and then Uichi (probably off the deep end). Time travel is a family power, in a manner that makes me think our mangaka took significant sub-/conscious inspiration from The Butterfly Effect (2004)‡‡".

If that sounds interesting, and/or you think my earlier MangaDex‡‡‡ walls of text on the subject could be useful for supporting evidence in the areas where our takes coincide, let me know and I'll try to dig them up.

And regardless, going back I noticed (possibly re-noticed, my memory isn't the best) something I think you'll also find interesting:
At the same time that Yotsuha gets hospitalized + Mommy Dearest "dies in an accident" + brother becomes her guardian: That's when she thinks Uichi stopped writing.

That is, Uichi's letters were reaching her until then. My guess is that psycho-nii-san started reading them for useful info, then trashing them.

Spoiler: Potential plot twist

is a mastermind(s) behind the whole plot, but Clover itself is just an account and possible codename used by the people conspiring to cause Uichi's death. Rei was the Clover that messaged Yae, but there are more players that need to be stopped. I guess the possible Clovers are Fuu and her mom.

Won't comment on the rest of the theory but the person seeming tall usually doesn't matter when the author fully blacks em out because sometimes even the heights aren't supposed to be literal esp in mysteries, theres hella manga where a charachters silhouette is shown and they look nothing like the silhouette would have you believe even in body shape and height.

Rei, francamente, nunca teve uma chance real. Seu pai o humilhava de forma abusiva, assim como sua mãe, que, por sua vez, lidava com a situação juntando-se a um culto de personalidade que apenas amplificava a crença de Rei de que as pessoas eram ou "inúteis" ou "incríveis", e ele internalizou a noção de que era "inútil". Ele não conseguia enxergar nenhum valor em si mesmo , então não entendia por que Uichi via algum valor nele e presumia o pior. Clover, cruel e maliciosamente, validou essa ideia e se aproveitou dela para convencer Rei — uma criança — a ajudar a tornar a vida de Uichi miserável.

Como diz o ditado: "o ódio não nasce, aprende-se". E durante a maior parte da sua vida, Rei foi ensinado a odiar . Primeiro a si mesmo pelo próprio pai, depois a Uichi pela Clover. Mesmo assim, quando começou a sofrer bullying cruel no ensino médio e viu sua família ser destruída por circunstâncias fora do seu controle, ele começou a sentir empatia por Uichi . O que, vale lembrar, é muito mais do que Yamada ou Rikawa jamais sentiram. Mas antes mesmo de ter a chance de tentar se redimir — muito menos descobrir como — ele se vê numa situação em que precisa escolher entre continuar trabalhando com a Clover, se matar ou ter seu último parente vivo brutalmente assassinado. E todos nós vimos como isso terminou.

O garoto foi manipulado e abusado praticamente a vida inteira. E agora, com apenas... o quê, dezesseis anos? Ele está morto . Forçado a se matar para salvar a vida da avó. Um adolescente morto por ousar questionar o ódio que lhe foi ensinado, privado de qualquer chance de se redimir ou mudar de vida. Ele não é um vilão cuja morte deva ser motivo de riso. Ele é mais uma vítima da Clover e de suas maquinações, e alguém que merece compaixão.

Na verdade, tirar vantagem dos outros e ajudá-los a arruinar a vida de alguém não resolve seus próprios problemas. Independentemente de ter sido manipulado ou não, ele sentiu prazer em arruinar a vida de Uichi, o que demonstra que, afinal, ele não era uma vítima; ele era simplesmente estúpido.

It was obviously never going to be an alternate Yotsuha, the theory was from crackheads

It seems future uichi and future yotsuba are eliminated from the options since he met the person directly

Also a theory crafted by crackheads, time travel in this universe is done via regression, if it was going to be an adult version then the alternate universe version is a better explanation (though still pulled out of someone's delusions as there has been no evidence to hint at that being a thing).
