Maybe i'm getting the demon king mixed up with someone, but i was under the assumption that the wn author went out of their way to paint the demon king in a "neutral" sense gender wise due to them being a demon, aka decide for yourself, the reason why i said they kinda hint towards female in this chapter is because i don't remember there being any hint whatsoever to the demon king even having a gender in the wn(again, by the author's design), though i might be wrong, haven't read a ton of it.

He’s wins by quite a margin but is ridiculed because of it. While he’s happy and wants to show everyone he’s not the pathetic son of the hero everyone thinks. They are all sad he gave up the sword, being blind to his plight. The fight reaches a point where he uses the demon kings magic and The maid notices and has a breakdown, as it was the demon king who killed her family. His father jumps in and stops the fights and openly condemns him, which triggers the masses who didn’t know anything to condemn him too. He both understands and doesn’t because it’s not power that’s evil it’s how you use it. Seeing how everyone is against him he refuses to give up in what he’s found for himself and runs away.

It was very satisfying up until everything comes crashing down.

So you are saying, it's all because he is too engrossed in winning/losing, he can't see further than that? I mean, yeah, power is power, it's not good or evil, but what he does is basically showing a gun to a war-torn orphan. The same gun that kills her entire family, none the less. The mass is stupid, his father should've known better, but he himself also should first open up and establish good communication with everyone around him. The princess, for example, only wants to see him getting stronger, but he's too busy hating her to see her intention.
