Ryofui is on to something - certainly a factor that prevents war in the modern world is that most countries are too valuable to conquer. That is to say, trade partners are better than annexation. And in the past, such self-aggrandizing methods can let a state remain neutral as war rages around them (Switzerland).

On the other hand, simply trying to increase the prosperity if your own nation leaves you vulnerable to an enemy who doesn't care about trade, or doesn't understand the value of peace, and attacks you anyway. And getting too isolated leaves you falling behind, and being rudely awoken by a foreign power (Japan).

Moreover, Ryofui's plan hinges on his ability to magically make Qin a Utopia. Where will all that new value come from? Especially if he intends to maintain the feudal society. And if he truly cares about the welfare of the country, he would have enacted whatever reforms necessary to raise the standard of living a long time ago. Why does he need the throne for that?

If he were a man of the people, I could almost trust him. Maybe his plan involves bringing Democracy and Civil Rights to China a few thousand years ahead of schedule. But time and time again, he has shown his character - rotten to the core, and utterly self-serving.

No, Ryofui is unsuited to become king.

Agreed. He is neglecting the fact that Qin has a large history of warfare and grudges from other states are difficult to appease. So even if Ryofui became king, it would be a disaster as their focus shifting from military to economic focus will mean before they would prosper, the 6 states of the Warring States period is ready to pounce on Qin right after Sei dies. They will see this as a weaken capital that has just fought off a coalition as a new opportunity to invade again. If not, in the future even if Ryofui gets the money machine going and is making Qin more pacifist, some kings like Zhao will merely see this as a vulnerability so they can either play nice until they can attack or straightup declare war against Qin and ignore all the potential benefits to trade with them. The main flaw in his plan is that it's ill suited to make Qin a economic state in a period where all the states war with each other. It's lunacy because it's too long term that a short term war will simply crash the plan all together. Ryofui thinks too highly of himself that he thinks his charisma and talent will carry them but all the other state monarchs just sees him as a cunning merchant, not a fellow king.
