and I believe you're correct.

Unrelated to the quote: Anyone else annoyed whenever they see "Ou" translated as "Oh", or (not seen in this chapter, just a related irritation) "Hai" [はい] in the affirmative or querulous usage (often used to indicate the listener is actively listening, and that a question asked is correct for the former, and to mean that they don't understand or that they're acknowledging someone asking for their attention with the latter) translated as something else?
I think it's perfectly reasonable to translate [はい] as "indeed" or "gotcha" or "yeah?" or any of a dozen other phrases that fit the context. But of course, "yes" will suffice for most cases.

I would never leave it as "hai".

Those are just synonyms on "yes" when used in the correct context, which are always acceptable. Not what I was referring to when saying that it's translated as something else, where I meant literally something else, that does not match the original context. As for "leaving it as 'Hai'", I'm at an either-or point there, because speech mannerisms affect characterization, too. Imagine Kenshin without his "Oro?", for example, having it "translated" as "huh?".

riboku and his 5d chess plot armor gonna be : "yes hi shin is our real target and all of this is just bait"
Unironically I think rebook did this to disrupt the battlefield rather than just kill akou. Otherwise he'd have made a bigger go at killing akou I think

Ok ive been rereading kingdom and this battle's general lineup is basically a repeat of the shukai plains (just replace the kisui army with the shibashou army) so its no wonder its gonna turn out to be a brutal battle.
As a reminder, the important characters body count during shukai plains was:
-General Makou
-Katari (mera tribe chief)
-Kozen (mouten's adjutant)
-Shousa
-Kyogai
-Shin (got revived later)
Minor character deaths, The Gyoku Hou and Yotanwa armies almost got annihilated, with the respected commanders brought to within an inch of their lives.
Oh, and everyone almost starved to death too.

If after all that, the narrator is telling us that this battle is gonna be brutal...
its gonna be brutal.

I do hope its not as long as the shukai plains though, that battle had a lot of really cool moments, but it was too long imo.

If I recall, nothing much actually comes from this, historically speaking?
Like, he gets a ton of rewards for sure, but as far as I'm aware he neither ferments a rebellion, nor is he connected to the Han that will take over once Ei-sei and the Qin unified China are gone
State Han and the Han Dynasty are two entirely separate entities.
