I interpret 'jakface over here as some sort representative/ "recruiter" for the Kinki mountain range, which might be the real eldritch being in the overall story. Certainly not the first time a mountain range in Japan is depicted as such, but this manga has a more obvious thread of continuity between the individual stories, making it easier to guess at what the author is getting at.
