New translator, Old question. Is it Louis, or is is Rui? I ask because Rui is an actual Japanese name, but Platinum Crown started using Louis around chapter 3 or 4.

Just a WAG, but the individuals that were killed seemed to all be male... so if one of the monsters could use other species as seedbeds, it would make sense to take females alive.

NGL, I find the MC being tied up kind of stupid. Not only are slimes known to be corrosive, but their flexible, jelly like bodies makes binding anything but the core kind of pointless.

I'm not sure metal slimes are still corrosive, but the ability to mold its body into any shape definitely makes him being bound by thread look silly. I guess they're sticky threads so shape shifting doesn't actually allow him to escape from the threads.
