She needs a convenient homonculus to posead the Dead Witch of the Forest. Finding a body would explain why the fog dispelled. Perhaps an impenetrable ward around the house, and the body outside it would protect the house from looting while convincing people that the threat of the witch is gone.

lol at that point i'd use disguise magic to change looks then again she does have the scar and rough hands so maybe the og body wasn't able to do much about it even if they were able to 'switch bodies'

I suppose she could try and... undo(?) the, uh, "cursey bits," maybe? And then, and this part is important, make a general announcement that she has driven the "wicked witch" off?

Bonus points if she can work in that she has forced the witch out... and that the witch specifically went to the "kingdom" (or whatevs), and might be getting invested as an incoming monarch, but... that might be a tough sell...
If she can do it, though...!

I'm guessing that she will make it all flowers and happiness... and the entire rest of the kingdom will be under the fog and rain of "the wicked witch."

(Personally, I live in a foggy, rainy part of the world, so I'm not seeing the problem... potatoes don't care if it's foggy...)
