It's an all right story. I thought it a bit clever of the author to condition the protagonist's memory to something positive in order to overshadow the trauma of him accidentally killing Kiriko. Setting her up as some lovable character in the past, and then experiencing the fringe horror that it was just everyone bullying her was something. Her face being hidden had me curious, but I chalked it up as something common in the horror genre.

The one who actually did her the most harm was spared, that's a bold ending to say the least.
