that was pretty clever of her actually target him where he has difficulty compensating with his medical tech, his need to breath. But he's a formidable target he has dermal armor he heals quicker then normal and that plaster allows him to get around even if she breaks his bones... she should try maybe explosives next? Or decap.

@EmiYusa The explosion was a distraction so that no witnesses would be looking at her drowning attempt either. Else they might call the cops about "this dude underwater" and he might get fished up too soon. Now everyone would be calling about "a weird explosion" and nobody would be looking at the water. (Added benefit - if someone sees her all wet she can just say she heard a scary explosion and fell into the water.)

@EmiYusa Interesting suggestion, but the angles don't match. In the explosion picture, hireling goon is off a fair bit to the right. (He's pointing out the vending machine earlier so one can compare.)

She might have murdered him later to seal another lead - at least once she realizes the target survived and might try to trace her through this lead.
But on the other hand he can just deny being an accomplice, and it seems unlikely that she'll be turned into a murderer in the story. (Just a very much repeated attempted murderer.)

With his casual access to advanced medical technology, the only risks he sees is pain. It likely influences his decisions because he never has to deal with lasting consequences, other than using up his own money.

What is really crazy about him is how he was willing to go through all of it just to interact with a girl he saw once. It’s funny as a comedy, but I think a warped sense of self preservation is the least of his issues.
