Or better yet, have the saintess fill up the crystal, summon a second saintess, have them fill it up again, and send the first one home. You'll always have a saintess with no downtime, AND they get to go home.

But even if this is true, which is not mentioned here, then the option with the old saint summon the new one and the new one sent the old one back would be possible.

The Priest said it would need Lina 1 hour instead of 100 years so she should also storage the magic in the orb. And not use it directly for the summoning.

It just makes no sense why they hide the return Summoning if the Saint could easily give enough magic for this. But the author needed some solution for the 100 years gathering.
