Well, looks like our MC is not just a master alchemist. He's also a badass who can dodge a scorpion's claws easily and is immune to ordinary poisons. Was this considered normal for alchemists of his time?

Wouldn't surprise me if it was, but I think it's more likely his teacher was just incredibly spartan and insisted Marzen be strong enough to gather all of his own ingredients solo.

Thanks for the new chapter!

C'mon, Tanya - just give in and become the 1st member of Marzen's eventual harem. You won't regret it.

I'm assuming his mentor was the best alchemist in the world and once MC created his masterpiece he was better than his mentor, hence him leaving.

100 gold coins for 100 bottles? scammaz! make it 30 million
When reading Japanese novels, it is best to assume 1 unit of their currency is equal to 1 yen.
So, he got paid 300 000 yen (~2000 USA dollars) for that one bottle.
And they promise 10 000 000 yen (67 000 USA dollars) for that batch of 100. I guess this means they want a 66% discount for mass production, or that the first bottle was worth 3 times normal for them.

P.S. the price of yen has really fallen recently. It used to be about 1/100 of USA dollar.

1/100th of a US dollar is a penny. A Japanese yen is worth even less than that.

they knew an apprentice made the potion and never wanted to use it because of it. why would they give such a massive discount on these potions when everyone knows that the effect cant be compared to other potions and when they have the monopoly now.

Judging by the alchemy guild receptionist's reaction, they're offering a good price.
Or maybe he's just too used to selling potions really cheaply, because alchemy is badly underdeveloped in their world.

So if he had to search for a scrap to use alchemy to make a sword to kill a monster, why not bring the material with you already so you could do the on the spot feat rather than hoping to find one on the ground :nyoron:
