To be fair, it's more like using unidentified "potion" in rougelike game. If you are lucky it could be max potion that help you survive, but it could also be exploding potion that would kill you.

They are testing how effective it is out in the field. It's already been verified to have positive effects. They wouldn't send a negative effecting potion.
