The same reason the others don't have much money: apprentices don't get paid much, and the cost of living in Kyoto is really high.

@Zen_Clark I mean I guess but assuming no shady business going on minimum wage is 9 dollars an hour. 16 hours a day and working 6 days a week (assuming 6 because he only has the 1 day off), Kenta's making 3456$ a month before tax. And googling cost of living shows it to be 1500$ a month in Kyoto. So the short answer is "it's a manga" but in reality he should have tons of savings assuming he isn't sending it back to his family solely based on the fact he literally has no time for any hobby or even to go spend his money.

Here's my singular issue. How does Kenta have no money? He works 16 hours a day. He only needs to pay for his necessities and has no hobbies since he literally goes back and forth for work and his day off is spent running errands. What is there to spend money on so that he doesn't have any for a trip back home?
Food.
Rent.
Where the hell did you get 9 dollars an hour from anyways? Even Right Now the Kyoto prefecture minimum wage is $6 and change.
