I miss seeing Kiyo, but I think these chapters were necessary. It shows that Kenta didn't just go to Kyoto to chase after Kiyo or be conveniently present for Sumire. He really found a dream of his own and decided to pursue it wholeheartedly. The girls had each other (and the support of the rest of their house when they came to Kyoto) but he had to do it all on his own...

I am curious why we're getting this flashback right now, though.

The senpai can be a little too abrasive, but he is a good guy, he can be a little too tough with the things he says but at least i don't think he is mean for the sake of it.

I am confused... open ending about what?
The trio's relationship. It won't be the worst thing in the world if the status quo stays the same but I feel like spending all of this time with Kenta has to be building up to something but you never know when it comes to romance.

Man, who just decides to spend their last batch of chapters like this.
Utterly baffling choice.
but this is such an important interesting detail of him having a flashback of unpacking stuff and .. we're seeing his start at this restaurant for the second time now.

It's all very related to the maiko manor, see..

kenta is going to hurt his wrist and never be able to cook again leading into his spinoff titled maiko manor 2 and it'll be about his next career choice.

Honestly my policy with this manga has always been to choose to enjoy the quiet moments with these characters. I like Kenta the same way I like the girls; I find him very charming, and enjoy his particular angle on work and devotion, and the things you have to do to work for a goal.

Also his particular Chef is a very good teacher, I think. And hearing his senpai has only just started to be trusted to do the work he does helps explain how prickly he is.
