I hope that one day, these two sisters will be able to enjoy each other's company as they once did; they deserve it :qq:

I knew it. That's why Momoko never visits Ichi manor even on the day she's meant to pay her respects (which is a HUGE DEAL). She's still mad/sad that Chikako "left" her when she retired from being a Geiko, and also, she probably thinks Chikako did herself a disservice by not continuing to be a Geiko when she did have talent at it. Hopefully, Momoko comes around and can see Chikako's POV and why she felt she had to do what she did, but something tells me Momoko still has some growing to do before she gets to that point.

Thanks for the chapter!!!

it's been like, a few years since this, I hope Momoko has done growing up so she and Chikako can reconnect.

Also honestly, I really relate to Chikako, wanting to follow/always be by someone but knowing you aren't as committed/talented/determined as them on whatever they're doing sucks. It's an awful situation I hope no one has to be in.

and wow, the page where we finally see Momoko's face after only seeing her back is so impactful!!! I said this before, but I'll say it again, the author can definitely draw drama well!! Edit: I just went back to last chapter and apparently my previous comment was deleted lol

Until the previous chapter I thought Chikako was taking more in consideration the fact she was keeping their "birthplace" alive since she started seeing herself belonging to Kyoto more than her original hometown but in the end it was more like she gave up the race and embraced the excuse to stay as a support which was seen as betrayal or cowardly by Momoko (because she can see right through her actions). It was a harsh reaction but you gotta weigh in they have been Geiko (or even adults themselves) for barely a few years when this decision was made.

It's a good time to remember that Geiko and Maiko mentorship pairs are decided by the Mother of the house.

So for Momoko, who wants to dance for the next hundred years until she dies, Chikako gave her Sumire, who's described as having the drive and talent that you'd only find once in hundreds of years. Not to mention the Momo in Momohana is written with the kanji for hundred.

Honestly I was thinking this arc was dragging and hammering the point a bit hard, but this chapter hit absolutely just right. I might have to re-read the whole flashback once it's over to see if that fixes how I felt about it at first.
