From occupational perspective, I don’t see the harm of Tsurukoma just getting a collar change and if afterwards she doesn’t feel it’s right, she can just move on to something else.

Perhaps that may be looked down upon in their small community, seeing that it’s very tradition heavy. :thonk:

She's right, too. In a population full of talent, finding someone known for messing up that bad so often but still powering through, performing with a smile on her face, looking after everyone around her.... that's a rare talent, too.

It feels like she's worried in part about making it when people she feels like are better then her have given up... and honestly. that's just the way it is sometimes.

I think bcz those 2 choice r both a turning points n of how serious japan people take their job they usually stay with it till they cant, n it can mean a huge time lapse there...

These chapters focusing on Glasses-nee-san, made me remember that someone in a past chapter (sorry forgot your name, and too lazy to search now XD) said that in the live-action drama, she only decided to keep being a maiko because she fell in love with a delivery(?) boy, and any semblance of character development was blown to kingdom come.

And here we have such delicate storytelling about her personal doubts and relationship with the other girls.

I hope Koyama-sensei recovered from the perversion they did on her work with that drama.

Regardless of if she graduates or returns home, she will no longer have the warm, happy meals made by Kiyo.
She could just go back to the Manor to eat then return to her place. She will still pay the Manor money back after all.

That would just be so disrespectful to the profession. She would ruin the Manor's reputation by doing that. Once a Maiko decided to become a Geiko, she will stay as one until she gets old and retires, unless she has to get married, has some kind of injury or become a Mother. Japanese are really commited to their job, they don't do thing half-assed.
