Ending isn't the worst but it feels like the mangaka had a bit more juice in the tank they wanted to get into the story. The last half of the chapter is a bit claustrophobic.

WTF ??? it almost there, we are this close. it was rush but mangaka still make the arc of them about being literary partner, as in actual life partner, no BS. Then just for it to be nothing burger next few page.
An nothing ending is ok, but bait and switch is the worst

Like watching a marathon runner with bleeding nipples and shit running down their leg crossing the finish line in 4th place. It was a messy finish of something most people can't even attempt but there will be no podium spot for them.

So that is the ending huh, not bad, we got a call back to the first chapter. Too bad we didn't get more Kiyota x Shirakawa, but the confession from last chapter and Kiyota's resolve from this chapter seals the deal.
An epilogue would have been epic but I will take what I can get.
Thank you to everyone involved in this project, I am glad we got to see the story all the way through.
