Personally, I had the opposite impression; I loved the later part of the story and found the chapters there much more memorable and impactful thanks to the fully fleshed out supporting cast.

Different strokes for different folks though.

I like that so far we are going for them mutually supporting each other and individually growing as people through that. It's a fresh approach.

As a person it took me way too long to realize that to actually make friends you need to outwardly express yourself and your interests and then people who like what you are about will know they can approach you. Also, you need to express your interest in others that do interest you and respond in kind to those that approach you. Actually, it is kinda counter-intuitive but self-expression is possibly the most important part of maintaining relationships, which is a shame for all socially anxious people out there
