How is drama and this progress the least bit surprising? It's in the title. A oneshot can get away with the cutesy situation but as a series that naivete is going to confuse them and cause internal conflict.

This chapter is a great win for the useless lesbians. No downsides. Though this kind of partial realization was a long time coming, I'm more impressed it was so clear cut.

In addition to that, she also seems to be spiraling a bit by comparing herself unfavorably to Takamine's involvement in the drama club. From her perspective, Takamine is this amazing person who's putting herself out there and doing all these cool things, and she let her own club wither away and isn't doing anything really interesting at all.

Now, that's not fair to herself, of course, and I'm sure she'll be informed of that sooner rather than later by Takamine in a suitably cute fashion, but you can get where she's coming from.
