Yeah, defining yourself by work isn't going to make you happier; unfortunately it's difficult to internalize that when your self esteem is tied up in extrinsic factors (like placating people). Or in industries where your job becomes your life.

That's why it's so important to diversify what you do in life - there's a lesser risk of putting all of yourself into one thing if you have different things to care about/focus on.

I know it's supposed to feel warm and fuzzy, but all I feel is a sense of impending doom. That something bad is going to happen.
Gee, what could possibly have given you that impression? Certainly not the one of the many millions of the sleepless eyes of the state ominously hanging high above our protagonists, right?

I wonder if the mangaka will go for the poetic irony of shit going wrong because of Fumi overcorrecting in his relationship with Ayano after what we saw with him and Akari. As in his early mistake was putting too much emotional distance between himself and a woman he probably should’ve been with, as opposed to what he might be doing now which is putting too little distance between himself and a girl even he knows he shouldn’t be getting to close to.
Or hell, one might even say that getting as close to Akari as he did was a mistake to begin with, in which case, this is like the exact same kind of mistake but with far more dire consequences.
