I think the most confirmation were going to get on Hiura being a trans girl or not is her line in chapter 0.4 ("For some reason when I'm dressed like this, I'm able to feel like the real me for the first time"), her color scheme with the pink cardigan looking only slightly off from a trans flag (Something she doesn't share with her classmates, as we see in chapters 1.1 and 1.2 it isn't a part of their uniform and the vests and sweaters they're wearing are all different shades/colors) and the artist drawing Hiura as a catgirl on their Pixiv, which is for some reason associate with trans characters, see Ferris from Re:Zero and probably other examples.

@Quelandoris The artist posted the cat-Hiura images for Cat Day, a social media thing where people post pictures of cats. You can even see the cat day hashtag, #猫の日, in the tweet. I'm not saying Hiura can't be trans, but I don't think that's a good piece of evidence.

Ferris being trans is canon: the degree to which she hates being referred to as her given name, the morning ritual of wishing and praying to never experience the full effects of puberty, and especially being included in the various girls-only bits of Re:Zero media. Her acknowledging being born a male doesn't change that. For someone who loves yuri manga, a genre which is rife with the trope of being hated for loving against the socially accepted grain, you sure do seem to hate a group of people who aren't hurting you by loving themselves.

Positive representation is extremely important, as it directly correlates to social acceptance; consider how scarce gay people or interracial couples were before, say, the year 2000 to now, and the correlating social acceptance of those demographics.. which tangentially reminds me of arguing on forums about the lesbian drama on Buffy, with straights making arguments almost identical to yours. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
