it is extremely clear that Hiura is contradicting himself because the mangaka doesn't know how to write him consistently; the issue isn't that he started in one place and is now somewhere else, it's that we are repeatedly given contradictory explanations for his behavior by Hiura himself and

Teenagers make no sense and contradict themselves all the time. All humans do, but teenagers especially.

i really don't like the direction this has gone in with Hiura constantly contradicting himself about whether he crossdresses for himself or Midou, whether he's happy as a boy or wishes he was a girl etc... it feels less like any kind of internal struggle and more like sloppy writing

Why not all? Hiura likes Midou, so he crossdresses to make Midou fall for him. He also grows to like girl clothes because he thinks they suit his body type quite well. He also wishes to be a girl sometimes because it'll be so much easier for Midou to fall in love with him if he's actually a girl compared to being a guy.

Yeah, thanks, but I got the "joke". The issue was using almost exclusively pronouns in a comment about two guys. I thought "he" was Hiura. Which didn't make sense, so I asked for clarification. Thanks for being condescending though.

I thought I did clarify. I said "I feel," and "He might," There was no declarative. I mean it doesn't matter either way, right now. What matters is that the relationship between the two is cute and is progressing. What really matters is seeing Midou and Hiura admit their feelings for each other and start dating officially. Cuteness transcends things like gender after all.
