That's also what i was thinkingTheres another similar asshole(?) landlord series set in an apartment block.Though the introduction family here is all assholes on their own.
I guess that's the point? Mr Natori is so obsessed with his own interpretation of what a good perfect family should be. Even minor mistakes make him go crazy....I feel like, by comparison, the earlier failures were hardly that bad. Especially the 2nd to last one, the way it's worded doesn't imply that they regularly missed their son's games...

Typically in stories like this the characters are driven by an obsession to cure their horrible past in a sense. He wants an ideal family (whatever that means) because he never had one.quite the cover. would never answer the door for a neighbor like that but we don't either wya
Yeah the "smiley" apartment one or so where everyone was forced to smile no matter what
i wonder why natori is obsessed, doesn't seem to be married himself. was he gonna find the 'ideal' family and get adopted or so? XD;
oh hey it's the funohan author. wonder if will be an easter egg/cameo lol

If it continues and if his past is revealed id lay money on abusive childhood as a primary motive.
Given their reactions they look scared. They are probably under the same pressure since we are told he is responsible for filling the entire neighborhoodi'd expect it to be like "i've seen enough, it's not possible so i'll just target bad families by luring them" but surely there'd be rumors unless no one notices any one moving out or the neighborhood is literally empty cept for his, considering all the living families there are at the beginning unless they're all paid actors if not some cult like following to him
(then again their lights were still on later at night so maybe they're 'safe' until they screw up)

This is pretty much an Asian expectation and idealogy that family must stick together and its your duty. Its why its not that abnormal for when people get married you even add your in-laws to the household, or for your adult kids to continue to live at the home.They sent their grandmother suffering from dementia to a care home where she can live her final years with help and without feeling shes being a burden to her family... And he killed them for it.
God damn author talking shit without experience or even an attempt at understanding.
The answer to every shitty villain story is childhood abuse.Typically in stories like this the characters are driven by an obsession to cure their horrible past in a sense. He wants an ideal family (whatever that means) because he never had one.
