God this arc was trash. How can you take the great antics and personalites that you developed early on and sideline them to the point of irrelevancy in favour of shoehorning in dumb characters who only serve to destroy the plot?
I was quite honestly expecting Komi to have 5-10 close friends by the end of this, and then say that her goal wasn't important as her friends are worth more than she could have imagined. At least that would have been cute, and showed how her goals driven by insecurities have been overwritten by her love for her new friends and relationship.
But no, we get this contrived nonsense. These dumb kids are going to go through their entire education without even kissing. At this rate, they'll probably bang for the first time at 50, only for them to realize she's gone dry. And then they'll have to adopt some children so Komi can reach her new goal of 10000 friends that nobody remembers the names for, and at least one of them will end up being a new romantic rival for Tadano.
Sunken cost fallacy is the only reason I'm still reading this.

Following my comment two chapters ago, I am deeply satisfied now.
I am especially satisfied with the fact the Komi obliterated her with one single phrase about accepting Tadano's chuunibyou. We can speculate that Komi didn't see him in that phase with her own eyes (maybe she would've been grossed out too, who knows), but the fact remains.
As for Tadano's reason to love Kawai in middle school...I'm confused. To notice that someone is pushing themselves, when you are delusive middleschooler...and to want to save that person...especially when it's someone almost perfect...isn't this a bit too bold and powerful? Weren't his chad superabilities partially suppressed by his chuunibyou? But oh well, it's Tadano.
And yeah, if you force your parents to make it into the same school as your crush, and if your crush falls in love with you, to shoot yourself in the leg...she definitely deserves a medal of sort. For an outstanding stupidity. As a memory of the biggest event in life to regret of.
