That episode would be rather fitting for some bitter social commentary manga filled to the brim with black humor, but here as a pure gag(???).

So the author abandoned this project? That's quite a shame considering that I liked the premise and overall execution quite a bit. I mean, I understand that it would be hard to follow up on the trainwreck that 7.1 was. I remember I was saying some pretty mean words at the time as well, but I don't think it was anything that we couldn't get over after a while. Hell, why not just declare that chapter non-canon and try again?

From what I can see on his twitter, it seems he's been working on some doujinshii or whatever. I hope he'll come back to this eventually.

@ichi24 To start off, the western reaction probably meant nothing to him. The Japanese community was just as angry about it as we were if not more.

I mean, you have to understand that men are feeling incredibly demonized in society right now. Seeing the police here completely take the word of a random woman over the word of a random man was a really powerful mental image for any men reading this. The outrage towards this story was a reaction to modern SJW culture.

I'd personally say that if that chapter came out today, I wouldn't react with as much volatility as I did back then. Cuz I've distanced myself from political issues since that time. But at the same time, I feel no shame for reacting the way I did. It wasn't portrayed as a joke, the police let that little girl go off with a random lady with no evidence that she's the rightful guardian. If she was a kidnapper, that dude wouldn't have been able to do anything to fight it. And if you normalize ideas like that, it instills fear in people that this could happen in real life.
