So how long do you think the author can keep this up? I get Alvin being weak is part of the joke, but that's the problem isn't it? Can you really keep up a gag like that forever? At some point people are either going to get tired of the same joke or it's going to have to advance him forward, even if just a bit. How long do you think that'll take? A year? Two?

@Hitspark as long as the author keeps his godly timing on landing the jokes and the characters themselves being entertaining, people won't get tired from it. just look at Nozaki-kun or D-Frag and heck even Jahy-sama, mostly gag mangas that have little to no progress but people are still eating it up because they have either one or both of the traits that i've mentioned

@Hitspark Even if the author does make him stronger, all he has to do is keep the monsters stronger than alvin and the joke stays the same. They do seem to be advancing as a party (they reached a dungeon and got 1 more member). Personally I will need to see something from the healer in the future that proves she actually cares about Alvin and they have some sort of bond. Otherwise I won’t be able to buy why he stays with her despite how verbally abusive she is. It doesn’t need to be huge. Just some proof that they have a relationship (maybe not a strong one) as a party. Give me that and I’m good.

Part of me says she's just that naturally abrasive, part of me says she's under some sort of curse. Her expressions don't always match up exactly with what she's saying imo, but then again she still does crazy stuff so... Yeah, probably just naturally that way.

And yeah, it'd be nice to see some sort of bond between them, even if a faint one.

Could even go in the way of dungeon meshi and focus more on the plot. The mangaka could focus on why Alvin is such a beginner and why that healer never heals anyone. Could also introduce more party members to further humiliate Alvin.

So far I'm in the "warlock that think it is a priest" camp.
To answer: No and maybe.

She has shown to be somewhat strong and to be able to do somethings so I don't know if she can reraise or not but it could be possible/.
