I don't dislike the dynamic but... I'm starting to get really tired of "well I got her drunk and had sex with her but gay" being a trope in yuri stories that never seems to get much interrogation about how sketchy that premise is, and how the real-world version no matter the gender combo ranges from manipulative at best right up to date-rape.

I get the thin justification that's supposed to make it less-bad, unaware or in-denial baby gays might need some kind of nudge to accept who they really are and what they really want, but that line of thinking, especially applied to this kind of use-case, hits bad places reaaaal quick.

Very beautiful and all the art, but I'm not a fan of relationships that begin with an alleged rape (although it doesn't surprise me, considering a certain manga by the author).

Honestly? That revelation does kind of recontextualise the usage of that uncomfortable trope, makes me wonder if they'll have the tits to commit and say "yeah that was a fucked thing to do and it was only the start, should have been your first warning sign honestly, because this person was always shitty" and lean in hard on the toxic yuri, though I can easily see this particular authorial voice turn to "oh no I fell for you for real" instead.

I guess we'll just have to see.
