I have said it in the past few chapter. Everyone is victim in a way. This manga is basically punishing every characters for having 'straight until proven otherwise' mindset. Eri shouldn't have accepted his confession in the first place like she admitted in this chapter. She should've broken up with him long ago like a year ago or when he brought up about her putting Fuyuki first. That dude should've also broken up with Eri when he know she couldn't give what he want. It's a trainwreck. Everything would've been avoidable if Eri just said 'no' to that guy when he confessed.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong but that can't be right, she was dating several other guys in high school but not kyo until the story started which is their time in university. Their first date was while Fuyuki was in the film club but since she's a year(?) behind them that would mean they went that long without a date

I feel a bit of sympathy for kyo. He loved eri for a long time and when she accepted his confession, even though she had conditions, it was a chance and he took it and ran with it. He realised she was slipping from his grip so he reacted by gripping harder. Passions collided and emotions flared so of course things got messy. It seems he’s going to cheat but was there really a relationship in the first place? Only in name imo.

Also every time Kyo does something it makes him worse. Like he basically screamed that she was drunk then forced himself on her. He hurt Eri's relationship with Fuyuki after dating solely on the premise that Eri and Fuyuki can do what they want. He is basically just a manipulator with no redeeming qualities yet.

I think you forgot the whole promise thing. Even if Eri is not dating anyone, Fuyuki will not confess to her. She wants to be the only one who will keep her promise, be by her side always, and not "betray" her. And the fact that Eri got confessed by her friend in middle school and ended up getting bullied is not helping either.

Agree with OP, it’s scary that this whole discussion has been towards Eri. I feel like many of the readers just filtering out things that suit them and forgot about how Eri got to this just like how Kyou is doing with his relationship with her.

The complexity in Eri’s personality is chef’s kiss that Eri is the only character without a clear and guided romantic definition in her head.

I’m sad how others say her selfish. Remind everyone, Eri never forcefully makes Fuyuki feel pressured to do something for Eri.
Fuyuki on the other hand, never confesses to Eri and always runs her life with the childhood’s promise that Eri told her (You’ll be my “best friend” - Eri is also dumb for saying it )
Kyou dude knows for sure he can’t get into it. There is a panel Eri said that if he has pushed against not letting Eri consider Fuyuki as her number one person, Eri would never go out with him, the whole xxx nor kisses would not happen.
Eri pushes him away for the first time you see - if it’s before, she would do it with indifference.
Moreover, dude is freaking cheating while in a relationship - like why there are some readers defending him and considered Eri bad.
Eri couldn’t read minds, she is socially awkward, she can’t understand things under the surface like all other characters - she doesn’t understand the implications.

Kisaki is more just a comforting partner, personally I doubt she will be a love interest for Fuyuki at all, we already see that in chap 9. There is no way Fuyuki is going to be turning her heads 180 degree in a few chapters - that’s not Shinoa’s style fyi.

Not defending Eri blindlessly here, but why are we omitting key details about the characters and putting the labels on them when they are actually not - Eri is nowhere near selfish, only dense, stupid, and ignorant. The growth the past few chapters have been splendid.

Quite frankly, if Eri has been actually selfish and talked things through with Fuyuki, we would not have angst haha
