Shouldn't the dude should find her a hobby? Playing piano, growing flowers, whatever it is, something she would become interested in and could invest her time joyfully in. Then she would naturally go less back to cleaning and counting wood grains. I don't get how he intends to make her really happy if she's never going to do anything out of her own free will, because of her desire and ambitions.

I feel like the author doesn't quite have what it takes to write a really smart character. As such, the author obviously should only make stories where such people don't exist as central characters.

So, why did she escape from prison again? I think this doesn't add up her behaviour.
Charlotte said that she escaped with the changing of the guards, but who unlocks a cell when the guards change? My theory is that; to ensure that Charlotte was seen as guilty in the public's eyes and no one would question her death. The prince commanded that the guards allow her to escape so that she would appear guilty and when the soldiers killed his fiancee while being accused of countless misdeeds she would appear guilty to the masses (more specifically, she wouldn't have run if she wasn't guilty) without a public trial.
