Not really, but I think Japanese culture around idols may make these things a little more dramatic than in the West, tho that theory is solely based on my reading silly romcom manga

I came in fully expecting to hate this series, but aside from the annoying schoolmates, I somehow...don't hate it? Like bringing a smile to someone emotionless and being willing to look silly and letting your vulnerable side show for her actually makes perfect sense as a reason to be liked. It's much more believable than just being a "nice guy" like so many other romcoms.

This is so good aside from the people in school caring too much who talks with who and what they r doing. I hate this trope so much and it happens irl too if both are in the same class.
