It's confusing as a kid going to a funeral for a distant relative. Depending if the reality of mortality has set in yet, it can range from annoying, boring, frightening, sad. No one expects perfect manners from a grade schooler, but it's up to your older cousins and siblings to equal parts teach and distract to give space for the adults. I'm not trying to preach in the comments of a manga website but as I got older I realized that children at a funeral can be a source of comfort for a family. Kind of a "life goes on" sentiment that softens the blow of loss. Koshiro's antics, I'm sure it would've made his great aunt smile.

Ah man, I get so emotional when I read this manga, this chapter really remind me of my childhood when I went to the countryside for my relative funeral as well, I kinda mess around just like Koshiro as well, not really understanding anything at all but just confusion, it was a Vietnamese Buddhist funeral so by the 3rd day the priest and such perform circus tricks for people, we don't eat such delicious food though, I've been through 5 funerals at this point, and I still don't know much

THANK YOUUU!!

I didn't know how much I missed this steamed bun head Koshiro after such a long time!

I was treading very lightly with this chapter because the topic is sensitive and can be heavy. At every turn, I thought: Oh man, maybe this or that could be done like... But then poofed! I reached the part where gramps told the story he shared with his sister... A single chapter alone shows me clearly how much of a story teller, a sensitive, sensible, reflective and wonderful one at that, our author-san is! Even the simplistic art style only adds more to the depth of this particular chapter and the story as a whole.

Koshiro clearly grew from this experience. He is clearly loved and being nurtured and protected by a good-hearted family.

It’s honestly kind of nice seeing kids just being kids at a funeral.
The chapter’s melancholic vibe was really well done.
I think I’m just so used to stories set in dark or war-torn places where kids at funerals are always crying or acting way too mature because they’ve seen so much death.
But here, they’re just being themselves—laughing, playing—and it really makes you appreciate how peaceful life can be in some places compared to others.
