I wanted to check it out and hey, my Glock, CZ, and SIG do make slightly different sounds when I rack the slide, and more so when I drop the slide lock. I usually have ear protection on and other shooters around when I drop / rack the slide and I can dry fire double actions without racking the slide so it wasn't something I paid attention to or noticed. Though you have to be listening for it to notice the differences, I think. Out in public with any handgun it would be still quite a distinct sound.

I think they're still missing the fact that Rose isn't aware Benika's dad is one of the target.

To my understanding, their 'test' this chapter was whether Rose might be double-crossing them (using Benika as excuse to get close to a church agent)

The answer they arrive at is that Rose genuinely love Benika and is protecting the dad because his death would make Benika sad.

That said, they're not going to take Benika hostage, that would just turn Rose against them (I think the boss mentioned something along that line back when they first chose Rose for the job?)
They'll probably have her resume work but select targets that wouldn't affect Benika and her dad.

I'm thinking Hibai wasn't actually making a bet - she was genuinely surprised to find out about the coin. Her boss just thought that way thanks to the end result, but she literally came damn close to dying there. The organization accidentally scored by assigning someone who couldn't defend herself from Rose to the case. Rose made the incorrect assumption that she'd be able to because she thought the other members were as competent as her. We know better.

Yeah but that was other people saying she is an agent.

We have yet to get actual concrete confirmation from tomboy lady herself that she is an agent. We have not seen her own "text thought bubbles" yet.

All we know of her true self is indirect from other people, while she herself only talks superficially without revealing her thoughts.

I'm waiting for tomboy lady's own inner thoughts to be revealed to fully confirm or deny the assumptions of the boss lady and the protag.
