@Goretantath Yes she lied. Echo said the man called her aunt an "idiot." He never did, he never called anyone an "idiot." All he said that "You can't speak, but you can understand me. No, I wonder if you thought that'd be a good way to get more tips." In other words, HE DOESN'T THINK SHE'S MUTE. The man keeps prodding Echo to speak, and each time she just keeps shooting him nastier and nastier looks. Eventually he snaps and throws a punch, and Fil stops him.
Thinking she's an aristocrat, he chides Fil for taking Echo's side FOR THE SOLE REASON SHE'S NOT TALKING. "This child isn't the type to just do that. You're blaming her for just falling down!" Echo didn't "fall down" she intentionally filled a bucket with water and dumped him with it (and that fit's the modern legal definition of assault/battery; just try arguing to a judge "but they do it in movies!") "Anyone can feel sympathy for someone who can't speak. Blessed aristocrats would unconditionally be kind to a troublemaking kid. Are you satisfied protecting the poor kid?" He's calling out FIl's actions as self-gratifying BS, not even bothering to understand the full situation simply because the lie makes her feel good.
After being called out for being drunk and attempting to strike a child, he half apologizes "It's true it's no excuse, but that doesn't matter." This next part I think is a mistranslation, "It's hard not being able to talk. You can't defend yourself." I think the point he was trying to make is that it's difficult to understand what Echo is thinking because she'll never have to explain herself. Then Echo starts talking and says he called her aunt an idiot. We then get a flashback where THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN. "You called my favorite people stupid. I can't forgive you!" He started to explain how he never said anything like that, when Fil threatens him with a table.
Then the man gets dog-piled when the Dean of Student take's Echo's side. There's no indication of when she arrived, so we don't know if she saw the whole incident and knows Echo is lying. "Take some time to cool your head, if you don't you'll get sick." I think this is another mistranslation, because I have no idea what it means. I think the Dean is making a veiled threat, but I'm not certain. Seeing how her bodyguards are treating the man, I doubt it's an act of altruism.
So in short; Echo lied and bent others to the benefit of herself. Not a single person saw the whole event or even attempted to find the truth, expect the man who was splashed. Echo orchestrated the entire event simply for sympathy, possibly condemning a man because "Blessed aristocrats would unconditionally be kind to a troublemaking kid."
And not trusting a brat is not an SJW reason. Children lie, and if you don't believe that than you're an idiot.
