How far were they from town since the journey was 20 days? Had to wait for 13+ wounded tied up men to shuffle along, and feed them.

He's unnecessarily generous. In an unruly world it would actually be a problem for the villagers to be too wealthy. Not to mention the villagers have a stable life and income anyway, whereas Alan has not. He could use the money more than they do. At the very least he should take 2/3 and let the villagers have 1/3. Even that would be far beyond their sweetest wishes.

@captain_crunch I think it was mentioned before that it's already 20 days from the village...so maybe they're just a few hours away from the town...

Edit: @captain_crunch it was mentioned in chapter 8 page 22.

@Kaarme I agree with you he's unnecessarily generous, he can endanger Beck and his friend at this point... And for an unknown world he's too carefree in using those world knowledge and magic..I mean he doesn't know how rare his magic and his capabilities is, but here he's showing off those things when attacking bandits and monsters along the way (without holding back a little). it's already a basic knowledge when we're in an unknown area/unknown territory.

@Kaarme I'm wondering if he is following somw kind of code or protocol since he was in the military. But at the same time, he mostly fought against aliens monsters.

@Kaarme - I think he is about the right amount of generous for other people to see him as knight or even a high-ranking noblesman.
Also, none of his backgrounds (gamer and navy tech officer) teach greed. Fantasy games typically have you grab more money than you can spend (unless you invest in some money sink like a fancy house), and modern military is quite altruistic.

@flannan It would all depend on his personality, which seems to be generous and helpful. I doubt in the futuristic Empire he ever needed to suffer from the lack of anything. Despite the magic, he's not treating the current planet as a game world, after all, he arrived there quite naturally (if you can call it that), not through some divine intervention or whatnot like in most isekai. So, he wants to help those people because guarding all species identical to humans is his job as a part of the space navy.

It's funny you mention a knight (who's actually low nobility) or a nobleman because in reality they were mostly jealously guarding their privileges. Although that was natural back in the day when life was generally speaking shitty for everyone but the wealthy and powerful.

This guy is kinda niave, thought we'd get a seinen but he's on some shounen mc stuff not caring about money. Even if he doesn't plan to stay money can by a lot of security in the short run

@captain_crunch, at the end of the last chapter it said 20 days had already passed and the bandits were preparing to ambush them before they got too closer to the town although they had already traveled the bulk of the distance.

@Kaarme, he asked the traders they were escorting about whether or not they would get in trouble for killing the bandits and they told them that if they turned the bandits in alive they would get more money so him giving the traders a share of the loot doesn't necessary negatively affect his bottom line. Also, him showing generosity in front of people can be a benefit to him in the future when he needs allies. Every character doesn't need to be a grim dark hero who unnecessarily turns people away by being a jerk or overly greedy.

@Ashisu, Why does this have to be naivety rather than assuring he establishes a good rapport with the people of this world by showing his generosity and in the event he does need favors then they'll be willing to oblige? Saving the merchant is already most definitely going to warrant him some favors in the future and the traders are going to likely speak positively about him along with Cleria. By the way, this is in the Shounen genre, not Seinen.

Split the money? Is he retarded? He should come from a highly civilised country how come his thought process is that of a naive villager that thinks sharing everything with your neighbor is normal...

His actions make sense. Empire that Alan is from seems to highly value human life and their military policy probably has protocols requiring him to help good humans and not exploit them.

Tbh I find it irritating at how generous this mc is regarding all the loot he got from the bandits. He clearly is throwing money at people who don't deserve it. He should prioritize securing his own survival and future.

There's a limit where it makes no sense trying to make friends with money, when they already are in debt/thankful to you for your previous actions.

@Joonhas I agree, It's pissing me off how much money he gives to people. I can understand the boar since he didn't want to carry it all but the bandits are his bonus for successfully protecting the carriage, the beasts, its goods, and the people.
That's like splitting your bonus check with your boss b/c he hired you while you don't have a house, car, and only 3 sets of cloths.

I don't mind the fact that he is generous, even overly generous because, hes a space office from a scientifically advanced society. Being a greedy self centered asshole would not be fitting for a space officer, and he doesn't need to care about money either way, because its not important to him. What is going to do with money? Buy a house? Get some old tech clothes? He doesn't really need it either.
And hes not the typical shitty chinese isekai/xian xia MC who is all about killing people and stealing their stuff. He's not a bandit, and he shouldn't be.

In the future they would probably psychologically test out people like that in the military especially since they have nano machines, and greedy selfish people shouldn't be soldiers or have any sort of power. EVER.

These uncultured savages memorizing magic books when all Alan needs is the power of IMAGINATION
