Good grief, how many times is this manga going to reuse kissing as a means of potion sharing? Also, it feels like the artist only knows one way to draw kisses. They've all been pretty much the same pose.
It was so obvious that the ape survived this...
1 He was too far away so it took time to reach
2 it takes time to cast
3 He was in the sky which makes it impossible to change the origin of the spell just before firing it
And easier for the ape to find him.
4 it’s an agile ape dammit
He should have prepared the spell before teleporting to gain time too.
@Kalec The ape wasn't so tough, based on everything we have seen in the previous chapters. If that humongous rock splitting spell had actually hit, there wouldn't be enough left of the ape to recognise what it might have once been. Thus the only conclusion is that it didn't hit. It must have hit close and the ape suffered some splash damage, but that's it.
I think it's more a matter of how, in the published versions, old and young Zeff are two different people. In this version, he has the memories of his old self but is a different person with his own experience and outlook. The whole reason he joined the guild is because he doesn't think like he's old self does.
@Kaarme the issue isn't whether or not he hit the boss ape. The issue is that with him close to levelling, and the boss being able to call endless amount of minions, that giant canyon didn't have *anything* worth exp in it's area. In a dense forest. That's just plain BS.
@Zael Maybe the entire gorilla population within a 200km radius has already been wiped out in the battle. I'm no James Goodall, but I don't think the population of big, wild primates can be super dense.
As for other creatures worth mentioning, they would have surely fled a long time ago. Killing some marmots wouldn't push Zeff over the level up exp.
