i'm liking this so far but i'm a bit lost on how Iris was beforehand. in the flashback it shows her saving the girl so she wasn't all that bad but then she also harassed the heroine. and i'm guessing now she's completely different, so how are people around her not confused about the sudden change?

Iris was not evil but she reconized that the baron's saughter, the heroine, was "stealing" the men she loved from her and if you know even a little about how women view these kind of thing just verbally harassing the baron's daughter is very tamed.

iris was definitely not evil before, but rather just the villain in the teenage drama of the story.

she acted immature in the face of that fake mc, though. i think like anyone, if you were just a teenage girl and the guy you like is being robbed from you, you'd act outrage. and like the mother mentioned, it's hard to pin down the actions of iris vs her fake friends or w/e. from what we've read, i personally don't think she's any different than before reincarnation. if anything, more thoughtful and less rash in taking action on certain matters. it's clear that she diverted the church confinement ending with the way she talks, but she still ended with a SORT OF confinement SITUATION. she's probably just slightly different.

edit: @owlette edited this just for you so you could see ~~ hi, we meet in the comments section of another manga again 😘

Somehow, I didn't understand on my first read-through of this chapter, but having read it again, I see, now.

So the duke actually wanted to keep the family in a neutral position in the succession war between the two princes (as his wife mentioned on the seventh page & which I somehow missed the first time reading) and his original "punishment" plan of sending his daughter to a nunnery was actually done to both keep her safe from harm as well as prevent her from being used by either side in the succession war. "I thought that if she has to be dragged into that mess of a succession war, then it would be better to just..." It would be better to just send her away to be a nun.

He changed the "punishment" to leading the fiefdom when his daughter proved that she might have enough intelligence to hold her own and, therefore, he might not need to protect her as much as he first thought. It gives her a chance to prove her abilities and show that maybe she won't be as easily used and influenced by other nobles for their own ends in the future, which is what had helped contribute to the cancellation of her engagement.

@ the Sebas comments: Many Japanese authors (in particular, isekai authors) are guilty of two writing crimes: First, they are unoriginal at naming their characters. Second, they often shorten the names, even if it looks weird.

This explains why there are so many butlers named Sebastian, and why the name is often shortened to Sebas. Isekai authors are lazy fucks. (lol)

You can never be wrong with naming a butler Sebas, Sebastian or Seb.

And granted that they're either a handsome sharp looking guy or a sharp old man with a nice moustache and occasionally, a monocle.

Also.. her acquaintances look far better than that gay-looking prince.

Huh, interesting. I always thought "ojou" (distinct from "oujo" of course) was the general term for a well-to-do-lady, while "hime/himegimi" were specifically titles related to royalty.

Then again, it's not like Feudal Japan nobility had the same ranks and nuances as European ones, so it's perhaps understandable.
