I feel like it's probably intentional they feel out of place, they aren't from Kowloon. They're the plain business suit lizard things versus the aesthetic choas of Kowloon residents. A contrast that's supposed to make you feel off, it's clearly working. Though I agree with you, author could've probably made the designs a little different;;

I have no idea what's going in with the plot. I feel like the author's asking for some academic analysis, maybe another time lmao

Just caught up. Appropriate timing for somebody who's a bit of a brolita myself...

I feel kinda the opposite. I feel like the story's goal is actually becoming more clear to me as it continues - in the very least, I can understand it as a kind of focus on gaining the "self" in a Jungian way, or finding value in life in a Nietzschian way. More than anything the manga seems to be most focused on self-discovery, something that I appreciate.
