I want the character to make sense. You're making a bunch of assumptions on things we don't know and the fact that she's a woman. I'm criticizing the information we got this chapter about how she sees herself, and its weird and almost contradictory.

We're presented a cliche scene of a girl inheriting the special weapon of her family, much like Kate, but unlike Kate who was forced to cross dress to hide herself, Akira choose to cross dress because she thinks people look down on her because of her gender.

The story does nothing to present to us why she has this mindset. Her parents support her, and all of her training doesn't look to be toned down at all. In fact it looks like it constantly ramped up as she got older. So its weird that she thinks this way in the first place with not evidence of it.

The girl were presented with however is someone who does think these things of herself. She doesn't want to dress as a man but actively resents being a woman. Even before cross dressing she was bothered by her own body, sexually repressed or not. Her undressing in front of the other students doesn't feel like a forced act with that question mark hanging at the side. It makes her seem like someone who doesn't care about her gender at the least, but we're shown someone who cares a lot. She promised to return home but we can safely assume that her parents didn't, and wouldn't mind. When her Ego is set up that high and the story throws its cliche in the garbage that hard, its at least a little weird that she's wearing laced panties.

The real reason she's wearing those is that we're reading softcore porn. It makes sense for Kate to do it because she has actually been repressed. Its not about cross dressing correctly its about it not making sense for Akira's character.

Its not complicated, Its funny because the laced panties and the character don't match. Nothing in these chapters would suggest they match and it only seems to happen because this is an erotic story. I know what I'm reading, but that doesn't mean I have to take it at face value. That's why its funny that its so mismatched and doesn't make sense.

that's a very limited view of how people work, people are often contradictory, just because there's a serious looking character doesn't mean they don't have a lewd side, people often have characteristics and do things or wear things you wouldn't think matches their personality, also you're a few chapters in, expecting to know majority of what a character is like in a few chapters is also limiting the plot and the author too much, that's not how writing works, characters are flushed out throughout a series of chapters not all at once, you looked at things at face value and went all "this character is supposed to be like this because the hints point this way" that's not how good writing works, that's also not how stories last long

Its not "the character is supposed to be like this", Its "the character as been acting like 'that' so why is she wearing 'this'?". Actual "set up and pay off" is exactly how good witting works. We Just got her whole backstory; if there was going to be a hint in why she would wear laced panties it should be there. There's nothing to grow into because she already has them on. It doesn't fit with her character that just got fleshed out. The first thing we see are her boobs and then her panties, that's the set up. But other than why she hides her boobs, there's not pay off for the panties. This chapter is a fleshing out chapter, and its funny that the panties are the outlier, that's my point.
