相棒 is indeed the original, so it feels like the strong reaction is probably less to do with intimacy and more to do with him proclaiming they are equals with a relation based on their affinity, not on employ or money (as the two other words that she used would indicate)

considering how she kind of bound him with money way back (or at least probably feels herself like it was the case) it must be nice and a bit surprising to be told this

from what i remember its. 'His' that does it for her.
as a non human she doesnt feel emotions the same way humans do.

her attractions comes in the form of possessiveness. which is why she tries to tie him down with massive debts. she literally wants to own him in some way.

so when he told her she was 'His' (partner) she blushes.

but take it as a theory or speculation. its a while i`d read it.
