Personally, i'd have gone with the trope that the moment the MC showed up, the villain was already dead cut clean in half and the villain just hadn't realized he was dead. But no. We still have to continue to deal with dumb and dumber while the MC could kill this guy solo just so they can push the shōnen friends are the real power bullshit.
