They are super durable at the standard setting, not even the Demon King can snap them. But adding fire resistance is an additional modification, she either forgot or isn't capable of doing that yet. Shiro was complaining that she still can't produce specialized threads half a chapter ago.

When the real stuff begins, nobody understands anything and it becomes boring.

Yeah, skipping all this stuff will leave manga-onlys confused eventually. Although I doubt there are many left who resisted the impulse to watch the anime or read the novels. But to be fair most of things skipped are actually super boring and tedious. The other povs were really a drag to read in the novel, even if they turned out to be relevant later.

this has gotten really boring since she stopped being spider and has no real power. like what is the point of the tonal shift.

She still has power. The diff is that now the training wheels called “skills” are off, so she now has to learn how to knowingly do all the stuff by herself instead of letting the skill do the do. Eg: she now has to consciously learn how to spit out threads instead of letting her skill do it, especially since she’s no longer biologically spider-shaped.

Like having to draw a background manually instead of using AI to generate you the background.

Still weak to fire.. for now. The thread has insane tensile strength but it is still more akin to just a super powered version of regular spider web even compared to the game web.

I know what you mean. That "mud crawl after a hot drop in d-day" is what has made this manga enjoyable for me. This is just turned into the bad parts of hunter x hunter for me but I'll still give it a go. We are still yet to find those other classmates.
